The Hofmann Brothers formed Gebrueder Hofmann in Darmstadt, Germany in 1931.

Mr. Dionys Hofmann

Dionys Hofmann, the son of the one of the original founders, is the current owner. Mr. Hofmann has ensured the future of the business by setting up the Hofmann Foundation, which will inherit the shares in the future.

The family-owned company is run by managers. To secure the Hofmann product quality and to keep a continuous development close to production, we have two production facilities, each specialized on certain applications.

In 1972, design and production of balancing machines in the USA started at American Hofmann Corporation in Lynchburg, Virginia.
In 1997, Hofmann Mess-und Auswuchttechnik moved into a new production facility in Pfungstadt, Germany. That same year, Hofmann acquired the balancing division of Krauss Maffei AG, as well as the assets of Reutlinger, another world-renowned balancing company.

Hofmann and its agents have key facilities around the world to support its products and the customers who use them.

Our modern factory in Lynchburg, Virginia houses American Hofmann´s design, engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams. We support our customers with sales and service bases across the USA and around the world.

American Hofmann machines range from simple bench-top models to complex, fully automatic measuring and correction systems. We serve the automotive, electric motor, turbocharger, gas turbine, airline, digital media, pump, oil and gas, medical, nuclear, military, and environmental industries.

Standard Balancing Machines. Our standard balancing machines include vertical, side-spindle, and horizontal balancers with optional correction systems. PC-based instrumentation offers both standard and optional balancing features with custom appications and multi-language options available. Hofmann portable field balancers enable you to measure both vibration and unbalance, onsite in real operating conditions.

Custom-Designed Balancing Machines and Systems. American Hofmann is recognized globally as the leader in custom-designed balancing machines and systems for unique applications, simple or complex. Modular construction enables reliable, cost-effective balancers with many standard parts. We specialize in applications requiring special tooling and rotor evaluations, as well as high-volume production demands.

Balancing Services. Balancing services include contract balancing, rotor analysis, financing, and training at your facility or ours. We can recondition, test, and calibrate your existing balancer, or improve efficiency with an instrumentation upgrade or retrofit.
