Horizontal Balancing Machines
Hofmann horizontal balancing machines provide accurate readings, time after time. Their sturdy design combines the precision of piezoelectric transducers in a reliable hard-bearing support system on a solid steel base. Standard designs include adjustable supports and changeable bearings, enabling different rotors types to be used on each machine size. Custom and special designs, such as side spindles for overhung rotors, are engineered to individual rotor specifications.
Hofmann horizontal machines meet a wide range of balancing requirements. Features include the following:
- Standard machines available for a wide range of rotor sizes (from a few grams to 40,000 kg), special machines for larger rotors
- Adjustable supports allow different size rotors for each size machine
- Drive system options to meet rotor type requirements:
- Belt, end, or combination drive systems
- Under/over belt configuration
- Larger ac and dc drives/motors
- Gear transmissions
- Auto-indexing of rotors
- Rotor locking system for rotor correction
- Remote angle
- Optional pneumatics for clamping and adjustments
- Roller bearings for wide range of journal diameters
- V-bearings or half shells for rotors with their own bearings
- Machine bed extensions or separate short beds
- Proving rotors to Hofmann, ISO, or SAE ARP standards for machine calibration
- Safety enclosures to meet OSHA and other specific safety standards
- Special tooling for balancing complex and non-standard rotors
- Integrated correction systems, like drilling, milling, and weight addition
- Semi-automatic and fully automatic operations
- Numerous standard and customer specific software
- Custom colors
