For the development of a software tool for the virtual mapping of a balancing process with the objective to optimize cycle time and quality.

In a currently ongoing development project, a complete measuring and processing procedure of an automatically operated balancing machine is to be described with the aid of a virtual, numeric model. For this exciting topic in the field of Virtual Factory, numerous possibilities open up to examine and assess the entire manufacturing process regarding quality, cycle time and identification of optimization potential.

Job description

  • Theoretical considerations for unbalance correction and concept preparation
  • Preparation of a schedule for the complete measuring and processing procedure to identify and correct the component unbalance, considering all single process-relevant steps
  • Implementation of a parameterizable assessment program, preferably with the aid of the tool VBA Excel, for the visualization of the entire process under realistic manufacturing conditions. Depending on the program concept, a standalone program or a coupling with existing program structures, e.g. CAD simulation, unbalance simulation, software, etc., are possible.
  • Cross-checking of the program results on the basis of real component parameters and existing measured data (validation)
  • Generation of an unbalance distribution with n components (n = any number of components) and verification of the evaluation software on the basis of plausibility considerations
  • Derivation of potentials for process optimization regarding cycle time, quality and reduction of reject rate

Profile of requirements

  • At least undergraduate study course at a university / university of applied sciences in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, IT, applied mathematics
  • Well-established knowledge in applied programming engineering
  • Good knowledge of technical mechanics, especially with a focus on vibrations caused by unbalance
  • Commitment and pleasure working in interdisciplinary teams (mechanical design, hardware/software, PLC control, measurement technology, commissioning)
  • Good command of spoken and written German and English
