General Summary

Professionally design electrical systems from customer or Sales specifications or concepts. Develop necessary parts list, bill of materials, electronic drawings. May check assembly processes and adjusts finished machines to insure proper operation. May work with the Sales department or directly with the customer in design and development of a desired product concept. Take responsibility for individual projects from RFQ through to completion.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform highly skilled design from general instructions in written or narrative form
  • Accept specifications or product concepts and develop conceptual perspectives of balancing equipment, correction operations, robots, conveyors and/ [A1] or component parts
  • Develop working drawings, material lists from initial concepts, customer specifications, global electrical and safety standards
  • Selects and requisition necessary parts for project
  • Works with Engineering Manager, other staff Engineers, Draft Persons, Sales, and customers in product development
  • May be charged with lead or supervisory role in a team assignment
  • Work with Siemens, Allen Bradley & Omron PLC and various motor controls
  • Flexibility to meet schedule deadlines
  • Telephone assist Service and Sales Department
  • Occasional visits to customer sites
  • Follow project through assembly and testing process, verifying accuracy of manufacture and design
  • Make final adjustments to machine to insure proper operation
  • Aid in machine “buy-off”
  • Each employee is expected to comply with safety, and health regulations and attend training as required.

Skills / Knowledge Requirements

  • Advanced computer skills
  • PLC and motor drive controls
  • Knowledge of CAD; AutoCAD Electric an advantage
  • Communication skills to work with Customers, Sales, Engineering, Assembly, Testing and Service
  • Organizational skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Electrical codes as applied to machine construction
  • Detailed knowledge of electro mechanical devices (motors, switches, etc.)

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Five years’ electrical experience
