Controls Engineer (m/f)

General Summary

Program and debug complete electrical control systems for a wide variety of Hofmann balancers and equipment

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accept released specifications from sales department and/or Hofmann management team, then work with the project engineering team to develop a conceptual design of machines and balancing systems
  • Reduce initial concepts to workable controls design, including designing PLC and safety controller programs, as well as determining the proper motor drive settings where applicable
  • Work within budgeted costs and hours for given tasks
  • May be charged with lead or supervisory role tasked with keeping all aspects of a project on schedule
  • Integrate and upgrade Hofmann equipment onsite at customer facilities around the world, as necessary
  • Support Hofmann support personnel and customers with balancer controls system, as necessary
  • Assist in maintaining Hofmann programming standards on new projects



  • Ladder logic programming (either Siemens Step7/TIA Portal or Rockwell RSLogix/RS Studio)
  • Motion control/drive tuning
  • General working knowledge of automated systems
  • Good communication skills

Preferred but not required:

  • HMI design (WinCC or FactoryTalk View)
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • Familiarity with AHC systems
  • Familiarity with Andon systems
  • Familiarity with robot integration

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor´s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
